Instructions for attaching the kwiKover Motorcycle cover

The kwiKover attaches to the area to the rear of the seat(s). The easiest and most secure attachment method is to insert the bottom flap under the rear of the seat in front of the rear cowl (if available). This requires a fairly close fit between the seat and the rear cowl. The two following attachment methods are most likely:
  1. Insert flap between seat and rear cowl.

To attach the cover with this method unlock or open the seat and let it lie in place but loose. Place the kwiKover onto the rear of the seat with the flap and zipper facing forward and the soft side of the flap atop the seat. A plastic tube is inserted into one of the many long pockets sewn into this flap then the flap is positioned between the rear of the seat and the rear cowl. This mounting works because the thickness of the tube prevents the flap from pulling through the gap between the seat and the cowl. By inserting the tube into different pockets and locking down the seat the most secure mounting location can be found. If the gap between the seat and rear cowl is too large perhaps a larger diameter tube can be found, or wrap the tube with tape, and inserted into a pocket. It may be that part of the flap below the pocket with the tube inserted may interfere with the seat latching mechanism. If it does try to fold it out of the way, if this does not allow the seat to close then the flap may be cut off with scissors below the tube/pocket. Make this cut only when you are sure. If a mistake is made a seamstress can sew the flap onto the bag it will just be one pocket shorter. It may be wise to save the removed flap for reuse on a future bike. If the gap between the seat rear and the cowl is very curved perhaps shortening the tube will allow this mounting to work easier. If your bike has the latch at the rear of the seat a hole may need be cut into the flap to clear.

  2. Use included nylon strap

If the design of the seat/rear cowl does not allow the above attachment method a strap is provided that can be inserted through the rearmost (1) or second pocket directly under the bag. Using the hooks or buckles provided the bag may be attached securely to the motorcycle. As stated above the flap may be folded under the bag or cut off.

On some motorcycles it may be convenient to attach the ends of the strap together, to do this insert the end of the strap without a buckle/hook through the slot at the rear of the buckle/hook on the other end of the strap. Use the locking buckle to tighten and secure the strap. If using this attachment method make sure that the strap is in front of some protruding part of the motorcycle so that if the strap loosens the kwiKcover will not slide off the rear of the motorcycle.

Storing the cover in the bag

There are a couple of suggested methods: 1) Fold the cover into thirds lengthwise then roll it from the handlebar end into the bag. 2) Fold the cover in half at the seat then into thirds lengthwise before rolling it into the bag.

Care of your kwiKover

The cover is made of a four-way stretch material. It can be stretched to about 40% to 50%. Stretching it farther or over sharp corners will degrade and/or possibly tear the material. The metallic cover will reflect some of the heat of the sun and is moisture repellant. The cover can be cleaned with a damp cloth. With careful use this cover should last several seasons. If the kwiKover lies against very hot engine parts damage to the cover may result.
